Sports Media is proud to introduce the "Ask The Youth Sports Expert." - Dr. Daniel Frankl.

Introduction:

My name is Dr. Daniel Frankl (Dany) and I teach in the Department of Kinesiology and Nutritional Science at California State University, Los Angeles, U.S.A. The year 2002 represents my 30th anniversary as a coach and physical education teacher.

My area of academic training is in sociology and psychology of physical education and sport. I have also taught applied motor learning, history and philosophy of physical education and sport, Exercise Prescription, Nutrition and Exercise, and Computer Applications in Kinesiology.

I am a certified Gymnastics and Track & Field Coach, and I am a Master Boardsailing Instructor. I have also taught and coached swimming and water safety, soccer, tennis, self-Defense (Krav Maga), water sports and sailing, and team handball.

My service as a youth sports consultant with the Amateur Athletic Foundation, Los Angeles (since 1991) and involvement as a sport parent and coach with my own children (since 1996) motivated me to take a more active role regarding some questionable attitudes and practices I witnessed in adult organized youth sports. Starting in 1996 I have decided to dedicated time and expertise to the promotion of a child centered approach to the organization and instruction of youth sports.

I therefore, look forward to answer questions pertaining (but not limited) to the following topics:
