Segment of a wheelchair skills training course run by the Backup Trust held at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, the national centre for spinal injuries. The tutors are wheelchair users who pass on their expertise to those who have been recently confined to a wheelchair as well as those who need a refresher course, and those who may not have had any training since their injury. The training instills confidence and enables attendees to achieve the maximum degree of mobility for their condition. Low platforms and steps are part of the everyday obstacles confronting wheelchair users.
