Introduction:

I am a Sports and Exercise Nutritionist for Elmwood Fitness Center in New Orleans, LA. I consult for two of our three locations, catering to approximately 6000 members (18,000 total) for all three.

I am a licensed Dietitian by the state of Louisiana and Registered Dietitian by the American Dietetic Association. In addition, I am currently finishing my master's degree in Exercise Physiology from Louisiana State University and pursuing a certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Before taking the position as a Sports Nutritionist, I've worked for one year as a Pediatric Dietitian. In that position, I educated parents and patients regarding nutritional needs for infants, adolescents, and teenagers.

Currently, I'm working with individuals and athletes in a variety of aspects regarding nutrition. I am responsible for dietary prescription for :

In addition, I speak to local corporate organizations regarding a variety of topics of nutrition, provide nutrition education to the Elmwood Fitness Center's Y2kids program, and write article for a local youth and parent magazine.

I look forward to answering questions pertaining (but not limited to):

  • Nutrition for the athletic indidividual
  • How to improve my eating habits
  • Pre or Post-game nutritional needs to improve performance and enhance recovery
  • Fat, carbohydrate and protein needs for exercise
  • Safety and Usage of Dietary Supplements
  • The Influence and Importance of hydration on performance
  • How much protein is too much?
  • The benefits of healthy snacking

My role as a Sports Nutritionist in the Fitness/Athletic setting has influenced me to field questions regarding proper nutrition, especially since there is an abundance of nutrition quackery circulating in the media.

I look forward to providing sound and accurate nutrition advice based on my experience and on the content via present research.
