Arizona Diamondbacks: The 2001 World Series Champions

The Arizona Diamondbacks is a National League team that belongs to the West Division of the league. This baseball team is based in Phoenix in the state of Arizona, and it is one of the few teams that carry the name of the state instead of the name of a city. Also known as the Snakes or the D-Backs, the Arizona Diamondbacks have been playing at their home stadium of Chase Field since 1998, and it has won a few championships in the past.

The success that the Arizona Diamondbacks have achieved throughout the years includes four division titles, won in 1999, 2001, 2002 and the latest one in 2007. These division titles have only resulted in one National League pennant in 2001 which then led the team to a showdown with the New York Yankees in the World Series. The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the rather strong team from New York in a 4-3 victory, making them the youngest ever expansion franchise to win a World Series title. They actually won the title in the fourth year of the franchise and in their fourth season as a ball club. This win became the focus of a few books that featured the team's outstanding and exciting victory against the stronger New York Yankees team which marked the end of the winning era of the Yankees..

The victory parade that followed after the Arizona Diamondbacks won the World Series of 2001 had 300,000 people attending a very orderly parade that was held at the Chase Field. The huge number of people that attended this victory celebration spilled into the streets of Phoenix, Arizona, showing the world that this first ever win for the state in the professional sports arena was a feat that meant a great deal to the people of Arizona
