The NBA Dynasty that is known as the Boston Celtics

There are probably only a handful of people who have not heard of the NBA team known as the Boston Celtics. The Boston Celtics is a professional basketball team that hails from Boston, Massachusetts and is considered to be one of the most, if not the most successful NBA franchise around due to its record 16 NBA championship wins. The huge number of NBA championships that the Boston Celtics bagged in the past still lies uncontested and seems to be a championship goal a lot of teams strive to reach or surpass.

The Boston Celtics is very popular for a few of their prominent players, like Hall of Fame members Bill Russell, Larry Bird and Robert Parish. However, the team is probably more famous for its rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers. While there are a few other teams that also have a pretty well known continuous battle with the Celtics, like the Sixers and the Pistons, nothing seems to compare with the Lakers and Celtics rivalry when it comes to pairings in basketball history.

The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers are home to some of the most famous players of the 80s, like Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar and of course, Larry Bird and Robert Parish. These two teams have met for numerous NBA finals competitions and have been trying to best each other in the game with one team having 16 titles and the other having 14. The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers rivalry actually began in 1960 but became a much talked about contest in the 80s. This rivalry soon became a contest of sorts that pitted the almost all Caucasian Celtics with the almost all African American Lakers. Also part of the famous rivalry is the Larry Bird vs. Magic Johnson pairing. While both players are good friends, the game heated up when both players went head-to-head during these games.
