Carl Edwards, the 2005 NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year

Born in August 15, 1979, the NASCAR driver known as Carl Edwards is a 28 year old racer who took his racing inspiration from his father who was also a race car driver. Born in Missouri, Carl Edwards grew up watching his dad racing such vehicles like modified stock cars as well as midget sprint cars. He loved watching his dad win his races and Carl Edwards pretty soon saw himself behind his own racing car, a mini sprint, at the age of 13.

Carl Edwards soon began winning his races and won the first one a year after he first sat behind his mini sprint and zoomed off on a race track. He soon had three more wins behind his first one and added 14 more wins to his record in the following two years. While he was substitute teaching after he studied at the University of Missouri, he began his racing career in NASCAR. Carl Edwards raced a modified IMCA and succeeded in this venture as well when a year after he began his NASCAR stint, he was awarded a Rookie of the Year award for the IMCA Modified Division in 1998.

With such an obvious talent for racing and a determination to do well on the track, Carl Edwards soon saw himself racing in a few other divisions of NASCAR. He was awarded the Rookie of the Year award for the 2003 Craftsman Truck Series of NASCAR in 2003, got the same award, Rookie of the Year, for the 2005 Busch Series of NASCAR and finally became champion in the same category, the Busch Series, two years after he won the rookie award, in 2007. Carl Edwards drives the #99 Ford Fusions for the Nextel Cup Series and a #60 Ford Fusion for the Busch Series.
