The Golden Years of the Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs were once considered one of the most formidable teams in Major League baseball. The Cubs became World Series Champions two years in a row in the early 1900s, and it was during this time that the team had its "Golden Years", which lasted from 1876 to 1945. During these early years of the Chicago Cubs baseball club, the team managed to win quite a number of National League pennants.

While the Chicago Cubs had a lot of National League Champion titles to their name, they only got to take home the World Championship title twice, in 1907 and 1908, effectively defending their title the year after they first won. The Chicago Cubs actually got very close to winning the World Series title a year before in 1906, but they were thwarted by the team that belonged to the same city, the Chicago White Sox. The following year saw their efforts bearing fruit as they won their first ever World Series title and they followed it up the next year. The following years had them winning the National League title but they failed to repeat the glorious success that they accomplished in 1907 and 1908.

These days, the Chicago Cubs seem to be trying hard to regain their glory years. They have won a few division titles in the middle to late eighties when they were with the East Division, and they have also won lately when they played in the Central Division. Their wins in 2003 and in 2007 proved that the Chicago Cubs are indeed striving to recapture the great moments of yesteryears when they were basking in the glow of their Golden Years. This comeback may be a bit shaky but the team is determined to win the World Series once again sometime in the near future.
