The Florida Marlins are one of the two teams that got the National League expansion team approval in 1991, and they were finally able to hit the fields in 1993. The baseball club called the Florida Marlins is a team that hails from the sunny coast of Miami, Florida, and it is a team that has already won two World Series titles and two National League pennants. The Florida Marlins play out of the Dolphin Stadium which is the home of the NFL team that bears the stadium's name, the Miami Dolphins.
The team was first owned by Blockbuster Entertainment mogul Wayne Huizenga who wanted the team to play in the same stadium as the NFL team of Miami. Formerly called the Joe Robbie Stadium, the Dolphins Stadium was then converted from a football-only stadium to a multi-purpose stadium following a reconstruction project that cost $100 million. This price is pretty decent compared to what the cost would have been if a new stadium had to be built to accommodate the Florida Marlins. This then became the home of the Florida Marlins and it set the stage for the growth of a pretty impressive young baseball team.
The first World Series win of the Florida Marlins came about after the team won the National League pennant by entering the playoffs as a wild card. They faced off with the Atlanta Braves for their first attempt at the National League title and won with a 4-2 score. After that, they faced the Cleveland Indians for the World Series Championship which they bagged by defeating their opponents in the seventh game. The Florida Marlins also won the 2003 World Series title as a wild card team going into the playoffs. This World Series saw them play against the New York Yankees which they defeated in six games.
