Hockey is a sport that is loved by all types of people all over the world. No matter what country or what type of hockey you play there are many different types of hockey equipment you will need to protect yourself and keep the game official. The different types of hockey are; ice hockey, floor hockey, and roller hockey. There are many different types of players in the sport of hockey. A team consists of a center, two wings, two defensemen, and a goaltender. To start the game there is a faceoff between the centers of both teams. A faceoff is where a puck is dropped to initiate or resume a game. The center leads the game with both wings on either side to assist in a setup in a shot at the opposing goal. The object of the game is to use your hockey stick and put the puck in your opposing teams net to score a goal or one point for your team. At the end of the game the team with the most points wins.
In ice hockey you play on an ice rink in ice skates. The rink has almost an inch of ice thickness covering a concrete floor which is about 200 feet long and about 85 feet wide. Most of these ice rinks are kept at a temperature of sixteen degrees. Floor hockey is where you play on a wood or concrete floor in sneakers or athletic shoes. Lastly roller hockey can be played either indoors or outdoors in the street with in-line or quad roller skates or blades. Some hockey equipment necessities are a hockey net, hockey sticks, hockey helmet, a puck, and proper padding and protective gear. Hockey equipment consists of proper padding and protective gear which includes shoulder pads, elbow pads, shin guards, gloves, and a mouth guard. Like with any sport there are many different types of hockey equipment to choose from to improve your game.
