The Success Story of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Imagine being a part of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, a team that has been trying to make it big in the league for a few decades now. Then imagine seeing the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim making their dream come true with the victory at the 2002 World Series. Being a part of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim or simply following the trials and travails of this team can definitely give you the feeling of triumph. The victory is certainly something that the fans of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will never forget.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim first began playing ball in the 1960s as an expansion franchise. Then, the team was named the Los Angeles Angels by Gene Autry, who was the team's owner in 1960. The name was still rightfully owned by Walter O'Malley, so Autry had to pay him a hefty sum to regain use of the name for his newly acquired baseball team. During their early years, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim used the team name Los Angeles Angels, with a short lived change in name to the California Angels in 1965. This change did not seem to have much of an effect on the way the team played when the top honors of the Major League was constantly out of their reach.

After Disney took over control of the team, the name Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim was adopted to give emphasis to the location of the team's home, which is Orange County in Anaheim, California. This change in name seemed to have ushered in a new team that finally won the Major League title in 2002. The main reasons for the team's success are the impressive gameplay of the team's members, the hiring of a new team manager and general manager, and a few rookie players of the team who contributed significantly to the brilliant performance of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
