The 2006 NBA Champs, the Miami Heat

The Miami Heat has long been trying to get themselves a championship title in the NBA and 2006 was no exception. The Miami Heat began the 2005-2006 Playoff Season with the Chicago Bulls as the team's opponents in the first round. The Miami Heat won the series with the first two wins in Miami and the last two wins being in game five at home and game six in the opponent's home court.

The next team to face off with the Miami Heat was the New Jersey Nets. The second sound of playoffs began with a disappointing loss at home but the team from Miami picked up the pieces and won four straight games after that first loss, clinching a slot for the Eastern Conference Finals. The Miami Heat faced off with the team from Detroit and this most anticipated rematch began in earnest. The first game for the Conference Finals went to Heat with an away game played on the Pistons' home court. The next game went to the opponent and the Miami Heat spurted ahead by winning both games 3 and 4. The Eastern Conference Championship title and the chance to try for an NBA Championship Title became theirs when the Heat won game six after losing game five to Detroit.

The Finals was probably one of the most anticipated events that the Miami Heat and its fans have been waiting for a very long time. The opponents for the finals, the Dallas Mavericks and the Heat, were both neophytes when it came to playing in the NBA Finals and this promised to be a pretty interesting match-up. In the end, the Heat overcame the Mavericks in game six of the series and went on to clinch the 2006 NBA Championship Title that so eluded it for all of its eighteen years as an NBA team.
