Discover the World of Paintball Equipment
Paintball is a popular hobby that is played both indoors and outdoors. As this is an equipment intensive game, there is a wide variety of paintball equipment you can invest in. Though good equipment does not make a good player, a player’s game can certainly improve with the right paintball equipment.
The basic paintball equipment includes a marker with propellant to fire paint, paintballs, mask to protect your eyes and face, and a loader to hold your paintballs. You may also want to consider getting a barrel sock or plug for safety off the playing field.
Other than these, there are additional items you can buy to give you extra protection or to improve your performance. These include elbow and knee pads, gloves, packs for carrying pods and extra paintballs, a throat protector, chest protector and a swab for cleaning your barrel in paintball breaks.
The paintball marker is the basic paintball equipment used for tagging an opposing player. Expanding gas like carbon dioxide forces paintballs through the barrel at muzzle velocity of about 300 ft/s. Hoppers are used to keep your marker fed, like magazines in a rifle. A drop forward improves the balance of your marker while the remote line is a hose connected to the marker and tank to give you more freedom when using the marker.
The rigid tubular plastic containers used to hold paintballs are called pods, guppies or just tubes. The harness or pack is used to hold pods full of paintballs, and the player’s gas tank when using a remote line. It can usually hold about 200 paintballs and some markers can empty them within ten seconds of sustained firing.
The paintball is also called paint, and it is a spherical gelatin capsule containing polyethylene glycol, water soluble substances, dye and other nontoxic substances. This paint is made from food materials and it is edible, though it has an awful taste. As paintball involves lots of running, diving and crawling, the appropriate durable clothing has to be worn while playing the game.
If you want to excel in the game of paintball, make sure that you get the right paintball equipment. It will not only provide you the protection you need, but it will also help you improve your game.
