The Downfall and Rebirth of the Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers have been around since 1970 and have won a few NBA titles including one Championship title in 1977. However, these days the team seems to be suffering from a multitude of problems that seems to be pulling the team down. The Portland Trail Blazers have been beset by problems from the start of the new millennium. The Portland Trail Blazers earned a rather infamous nickname, the "Portland Jail Blazers," due to the rather chaotic existence the team had during that time.

The Portland Trail Blazers name was marred by numerous controversies and player infractions that the media played up with the use of the "Jail Blazers" nickname. This was due to the fact that a lot of the team's new acquisitions had rather unsavory backgrounds and records. The Portland Trail Blazers also saw some of their players, like Rasheed Wallace, Qyntel Woods and a few others arrested for such violations of the law like possession of marijuana and other similar violations. The team also suffered from fan fallout due to arrogant statements being made by some of the team's members.

These problems that the Portland Trail Blazers were facing got compounded by the bankruptcy of the Rose Garden and the continuing attitude problems and violations that the players seemed to be getting. The mounting crisis for the Portland Trail Blazers ended in the spring of 2007 with the promise of the team owner's re-purchasing of the home stadium of the team plus the promising increase in win to loss record that the team got in the 2006-2007 season. The 2007-2008 season should be more productive for the team if they get their act together and get things back on track attitude-wise. The hopes that the Trail Blazers make the playoffs again and make it all the way back to the top is possible if the team members buck up and try.
