Rusty Wallace is one of the more well known NASCAR race car drivers around and while people may not know it, he is actually more than just a professional race car driver. Rusty Wallace is a father, a husband, a race car owner, a commentator and a speedway designer, among others. Rusty Wallace was born in August of 1956 in Missouri and is the 1989 Winston Cup Champion. He has a string of other wins and titles to his name, like the Rookie of the Year for 1984 and ASA Champ for 1983. He is also part of the NASCAR's list of 50 of the greatest drivers of all time that was released on the 50th anniversary of NASCAR in 1998.
Rusty Wallace is husband to Patti and father to three children, namely Katie, Greg and Steven. His son Steven is now beginning to follow in the footsteps of the older Wallace and is currently in the Busch Series of NASCAR. Rusty Wallace is also a race car owner and runs the Rusty Wallace, Inc., the racing team that fields the #66 car that his son Steven drives in the Busch Series. The racing team has two other drivers aside from his son and has Homelife Communities as its primary sponsor.
Rusty Wallace also worked as a broadcaster for ESPN and covered racing events for the sports network as for ABC. He covered such races like the Indy Car Series and is soon scheduled to commentate on some of the Busch Series races of NASCAR. Also to be credited to Wallace is his help in designing the Iowa Speedway. Called his Signature Design Speedway, Wallace broke ground on the future race track in 2005 and saw it open its first race in 2007. The Iowa Speedway is said to have some similarities to one of the tracks where Wallace won a number of races in the past.
