A Glimpse at One of NASCAR's Driving Forces, Dale Jarrett

Born in November 26, 1956, 51 year old Dale Jarrett is one of the drivers that NASCAR is proud to have around and on the race tracks. Dale Jarrett is a second generation race car driver for NASCAR and is father to another NASCAR racer, Jason Jarret. Dale Jarrett is the son of Ned Jarrett, the two-time Grand National Champion of NASCAR and currently belongs to a select list of the 50 greatest drivers of all time that NASCAR put out in 1988 on their 50th year anniversary along with his father Ned.

Dale Jarrett was the son of a famous champion race car driver but did not start racing till later in life, when he was 21. This age may seem young to some but when your peers have been racing since they were minors, 21 was a ripe old age to start a racing career. Dale Jarrett first joined a race that ran on a track his esteemed father owned, the Hickory Motor Speedway and found himself finishing the race in ninth place despite his starting the same race in the last position. Such a talent soon saw itself being used in the Busch Series of NASCAR

The career of Dale Jarrett is a rather illustrious one with 32 wins to his name and 288 top tens in a span of a few decades. He has won a few awards and was the 1999 Winston Cup champion. Dale Jarrett is also a pretty talented golfer and was, in fact, offered a full golfing scholarship by the University of California when he was younger. His love for golf showed when he was featured in a commercial playing golf with a few other notable figures in sports like Wayne Gretsky and Michael Jordan. He is currently part of the ESPN broadcasting team for the Busch Series and began such a career at the beginning of 2007.
