The Long History of the Golden State Warriors

One of the basketball teams that plays in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference is the Golden State Warriors. This basketball team called the Golden State Warriors saw its beginnings in the BAA or the Basketball Association of America and has seen itself winning a championship title under the organization a year after the team was formed. The Golden State Warriors also saw itself performing pretty well in the NBA, although it still has to win a championship here.

The Golden State Warriors is a team that has been around for decades and was first playing for other cities before the team finally played for the Golden State. Based in Oakland in California, this team actually has its roots in Philadelphia where it was once called the Philadelphia Warriors from 1946 up to 1962. The team then moved to San Francisco in 1962 and stayed there until its final move to Oakland where it finally got the name Golden State Warriors. The team belonged to the now defunct BAA from 1946 to 1949 before the association became the NBA.

When the Golden State Warriors was relocated to the city of Oakland in California, they won an NBA Championship title four years after. The other NBA Championship title that they have was won when the team was still in Philadelphia and they defeated what was soon to become the Detroit Pistons. The 1975 NBA Championship win of the Golden State Warriors was against the Washington Bullets and was considered to be one of the biggest upsets in NBA history. The team went on to defeat their opponents in the 1975 NBA Finals with a four to nothing sweep.

Today, the team from Oakland seems to be struggling to regain the kind of winning power they had in their bygone years. They are beginning to do so however and have shown that they can bounce back when they played their first ever playoff series after 13 years, defeating hot favorites Dallas Mavericks.
