The Controversial NASCAR Driver Known as Kurt Busch

If there is one NASCAR Nextel Cup Champion that is being hounded by a bad reputation and scandalous events, Kurt Busch is the man. Kurt Busch is the 2004 Nextel Cup Champion and is one of the most hated athletes in the US as stated in a 2006 issue of a men's magazine. Kurt Busch broke into the big leagues of racing through a very controversial issue that had nothing to do with him but was controversial all the same. He was the replacement for Chris Trickle, who was a driver for the Star Nursery team that was mysteriously shot by a still unknown assailant to this day.

The break gave Kurt Busch the chance he needed to get into the Craftsman Truck Series and pretty soon; Busch was able to prove himself on the track. While Kurt Busch is indeed a very talented race car driver, his attitude says something differently about him. He has had quite a number of run-ins with fellow race car drivers and has been the recipient of several fines and probations for such actions. He was also pretty well known when it comes to brushes with the law. Kurt had been stopped for suspicion of DUI and reckless driving, however these were not proven since the police officers who did the field sobriety tests and the breath analyzer tests could not release any of the results due to faulty testing equipment.

Kurt Busch was suspended from completing the season and ended in 10th place due to his suspension. After the furor died about his alleged drunk-driving charge, Busch pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge and was fined around $500 and a few weeks of community service for two counts of speeding. The charge for reckless driving was dropped and the charge for DUI was also dropped due to lack of evidence.
