The Miami Dolphins are a professionally trained American football team located in the Miami, Florida Metropolitan Area. The team plays home games at the Dolphin Stadium located in the suburb of Miami Gardens which is approximately 15 miles from Downtown Miami. The Miami Dolphins main headquarters is located at the Miami Dolphins Training Facility in Davie, Florida.

The Dolphins are affiliated with the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). They were established by Joseph Robbie and the team began to play in the American Football League as an expansion team in 1966. The Miami Dolphins soon joined the NFL as part of the AFL-NFL Merger. The Miami Dolphins are the oldest major-league professional sports franchise in the Florida state and they are presently owned by Wayne Huizenga.

The Miami Dolphins Accomplishments
The Miami Dolphins team made its first Super Bowl appearance shortly after the 1971 season in Super Bowl VI. The Dolphins completed the NFL's only perfect season to date in the Super Bowl era in 1972, and won all 14 regular season games, two playoff games and the Super Bowl VII. The Miami Dolphins also won Super Bowl VIII, and became the first team to appear in three consecutive Super Bowls. They were also the second team (first AFL/AFC team) to win back-to-back championships. The team also appeared in the Super Bowl XVII and Super Bowl XIX.

For most of Miami Dolphins history, their coach was Don Shula. Don Shula's Dolphins teams posted losing records in only two of his 26 seasons with the club. There were six future Hall of Fame members played for Miami during the 1970s, including running back Larry Csonka and quarterback Bob Griese. During the 1980s and 1990s, quarterback Dan Marino was the most dynamic passer in NFL history. Dan Marino broke numerous league passing records. Dan Marino was also the reason for the Dolphins numerous playoff appearances as well as the Super Bowl XIX.
