Not that many professional race car drivers can own up to being a multi-talented professional race car river but Robby Gordon surely can. Born California in to Off-Road Legend Bob Gordon, Robby Gordon is one race car driver that actually races in a few different types of automobile competitions. Robby Gordon also owns all the vehicles he races, namely the #7 Ford Fusion he uses for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series and the #55 vehicle that he uses for the Busch Series that he sometimes competes in. The Robby Gordon Motorsports #7 car is sponsored by Jim Beam and the #55 is sponsored by both Motorola and Verizon Wireless.
The other motorsport competition that Robby Gordon competes in includes off road racing, one thing that he grew up with and is very familiar with. In fact, he began racing with off road vehicles and competitions, the area that his father excelled in. His prowess in the off road scene is well proven with a number of wins and awards to his name. Robby Gordon also shares his love for off road racing with his siblings, with his sisters also competing in off road competitions and contests.
Robby Gordon also raced in the Indy Car Series and did quite well there too. He did his first Indy Car season in 2003 and continued to do so until 2004. He had his own team for the season and the race and failed to get the top spot for the Indy 500 although he did get to the top 5 in some of the years he competed. Gordon was considered a pretty aggressive driver in this kind of a race and the reason he gave for leaving the Indy Car Series was because of concerns over safety. Today, Gordon focuses on two of his beloved motor sports, off road and NASCAR racing.
