Welcome to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Yaaarrhh!!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play in the tropical city of Tampa, Florida. You may not be aware of this, but it's a law that once you reach a certain age, you have to move down to Florida. What better way to spend you golden years than watching one of the best teams in the Southern Division. What is a Buccaneer you ask? It's a pirate of sorts. Yaarhhh!!! Consider it a pirate dressed in Buccaneer red, black, pewter and orange (these are the team colors). The "bucs" have been a member of the Southern Division of the NFC in the National Football League since 1976.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won only one Super Bowl championship. They beat the Oakland Raiders at Super Bowl XXXVII. One noteworthy fact about that game was that Matt Bryant made a 62 yard game winning field goal (the second longest in NFL history) and surprised everyone. If you've never seen a 62-yard field goal, it's quite a spectacle. Most players don't attempt anything over 30 yards unless they absolutely have to.

A few stars of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers include Lee Roy Selmon, Keyshawn Johnson and Brad Culpepper. Coaches that deserve a bit of praise for their solid performance over the years include John McKay, Tony Dungy and Jon Gruden.

Interestingly, the "Tampa Bay Curse" refers to a rare occurrence in football. If a team loses to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the regular season, they will not go on to win a Super Bowl. Nobody knows why this happens, but it does. Either it's a true pirate curse, or a statistical anomaly.

Finally, Raymond James Stadium, where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play, has been dubbed the "crown jewel of the NFL" because it has the best grass field. The stadium holds over 75,000 spectators when fully expanded. If you ever find yourself in Tampa, be sure to get some sun and catch a Tampa Bay game. You won't be disappointed.
