The Texas Rangers: Many Namesakes, One Baseball Team

The name Texas Rangers can mean a few different things, like an architectural group that once taught in the Texas School of Architecture and the film that was made in 2001 under the supervision of director Steve Miner. The Texas Rangers we are referring to here is the baseball team that belongs to the Western Division of the American League. This team plays at the Ballpark in Arlington. The Texas Rangers have yet to win an American League pennant as well as a World Series title, but they have won a few Western Division titles for the years 1996, 1998 and 1999.

The Texas Rangers team has quite a few namesakes, and included in the list of entities that share this name is a plant known as leucophyllum frutescens, a shrub that has flowers that are bell-shaped and lavender in color. This plant is also called the Silverleaf and Cenizo, and it has quite a few varieties under its name. The Texas Rangers name is also shared by a law enforcement group called the Texas Ranger Division. This group is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Safety in Texas and it is currently based in the city of Austin. This group has been known to investigate numerous cases in the past and it is pretty popular with the people who enjoy reading about such law and crime exploits.

The baseball team called the Texas Rangers is actually named after the lawmen mentioned above. This baseball team got its name in 1972 with the name being changed from the original team of Washington Senators. The team's colors are scarlet red, white and blue, and the team's logo is a red capital letter ‘T' with the words ‘Texas' above it in red and ‘Rangers' in the bottom part in red.
